|
| Q. |
How is the workshop organized? |
| A. |
The workshop/shoot is a casual, limited
instruction event. We opt for a hands
on working situation, not a lecture, theory and diagram
type of workshop. Instruction will be given as
necessary during the course of the shoot by Bentlight
Studios staff. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
What is the ratio of photographers to models? |
| A. |
The ratio is 4:1, but there is plenty of 'one on one' shooting
during the course of the session. The workshop/shoot is
organized in the East Coast 'photo club' style where one
photographer works with the model for a few minutes and
then hands off to the next photographer. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
How many total photographers per session? |
| A. |
There are only 4 photographers per session. This provides a closer working
situation where every one truly gets equal shooting time
and gains the maximum of shared information. This is
not an outdoor 'free for all' photo shoot, but a
casual, fun and creative learning environment. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
What will I need to bring with me? Do I need lighting equipment? |
| A. |
You'll need to bring your camera gear, film, and a
sync cord. Film and a sync cord can be purchased from
Bentlight Studios if you forget these items. There is no
need to bring any lighting equipment to the shoot. Bentlight Studios provides a Speedotron black line
studio strobe lighting system, up to five (5) strobe
heads, soft boxes, reflectors and grip equipment. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
What level of experience will the other photographers have? |
| A. |
All levels of photographers will attend the
workshop/shoots. Some are learning to work with studio
strobes and others are "old hands" at working in the
studio. A lot of information and stories are shared
between photographers of different levels. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
What if I've never worked with studio strobes before? |
| A. |
Bentlight Studios offers a basic hands on
introduction to working with studio strobes. The
introduction class is usually held on Wednesday
evenings. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Will I have to sign a model release? |
| A. |
Yes, there is a limited model release that both the
photographers and models sign. This gives the
photographer the legal right to use the images shot at
the workshop for their own promotion and for both on line
and physical portfolios. It does not allow the
photographer to sell the images for publication, stock
or internet content. A full unlimited release must be
negotiated with the model before the images can be sold
or the model has the right to sue the photographer. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Will I be required to give the models prints/scans for their time? |
| A. |
No, however photographers should recognize the
models efforts and reward them for their good work. It
is also a great marketing tool for the photographer to
have models showing their work around too. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Will I be able to get contact information for the model after the shoot? |
| A. |
No. For safety reasons contact between the
photographer and model after the shoot will go through
Bentlight Studios staff. Many times the models will
feel comfortable enough with a photographer in the
course of the workshop/shoot and will want to share
their contact information, but if the model isn't
willing to share this info, Bentlight Studios staff will
not provide it. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Will I be able to shoot with the model after the
scheduled session is over? |
| A. |
Yes, you can if the model or the studio isn't booked
after that session. A model sets her own rate based
on many factors, so it's up to you to negotiate that rate
with her and check with a Bentlight Studios staff member
on the availability of the rental of the studio. Some
of the models we use for our events travel from out of
town and would love to maximize their trip to L.A. by
booking as many shoots as they can. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Is it possible to arrange a individual shoot with a different model? |
| A. |
Yes, Bentlight Studios keeps a book of models that
photographers can view. If you find a model in the book
that you are interested in working with, Bentlight
Studios will assist in booking her for you at no
additional charge. Inquire with a Bentlight Studios
staff member to view the book of models. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
When is payment due for a workshop? |
| A. |
All payments are due in full at the time of
registration for the workshop. Space in a workshop is
first come, first serve. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
What form of payment is accepted? |
| A. |
Checks, credit cards (VISA or Mastercard), or online
payment through the Bentlight Studios encrypted register form. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Can I get a refund if I have to cancel? |
| A. |
Registration fees are non-refundable, but can be credited in full to a future
workshop provided we are able to fill the space with another photographer. Therefore, it is to your benefit to inform us as soon as
possible if you must cancel. The shoot is budgeted
on having a full body of registered photographers for
the event. Full refunds will be made if the event
is canceled by Bentlight Studios. |
|
|
|
| Q. |
Will I need to bring money to pay the model(s)? |
| A. |
No. The fee for the workshop/shoot is all inclusive
and there is no need to bring extra cash or "model
money". Snacks and refreshments are also included. |
|
